Hello Kossacks !
I will be heading to Washington, DC, in April, for this year's Ecumenical Advocacy Days conference, This is a gathering each year of about 1500 - 2000 people of faith to take on issues of social justice, and to lobby their federal elected representatives. I particularly appreciate the opportunity to get together with my colleagues from the National Religious Campaign Against Torture.
This year my lobbying will focus on getting Albert Woodfox, the still incarcerated member of the Angola Three, whose trial has been overturned three times, out of prison. Mr. Woodfox has been in solitary confinement for 43 years. The State of Louisiana is, as we speak, preparing to take him to trial a fourth time.
I have been blessed the previous two years to have billeting with Kossacks. This year, those wonderful people are unable to host me. Is there someone in the DC area who would be willing and able to host me for about ten days in April ? I need the extra days in town to door to door lobby in the Capital, and a day or two to research at the Folger Shakespeare Library. Because I am multiply disabled, I am unable to pay for a hotel room.
Thanks very much for even considering this,
With gratitude,
Heather
